Eating Our Words...

Not just one but two bodies were found in the Watertown area over the weekend. Quite the news for a town that reports on a Wal-Mart employee letting friends use her 10% discount (see story below). An arrest has been made in connection the first body found, believe to be a woman missing since 1996.

Sheesh.

The Music of the Night...

Last night we saw Phantom of the Opera in Syracuse at the Oncenter. Our eyes and ears were treated to the touring production of the most popular musical of all time. Based on the 1909 novel Le Fantome de l'Opera by Gaston Leroux, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical first hit the London stage in 1986. Our view was great depite being in aisle seats located in the very last row of the balcony and the music was spectacular. We both grew up listening to the music associated with with the production but we had yet to see the show on stage. We were not disappointed!

This Is News?

We enjoy reading the daily/weekly police blotter for our area. After viewing the report below, we hope you can see why...

Police: Wal-Mart Clerk Shared Her 10% Discount

CALCIUM — Elisea Soliz, 19, of 8232 S. Lewis Ave., Fort Drum, was cited by state police at 7:46 p.m. Wednesday in the town of LeRay with petit larceny. While working as a salesclerk at Super Wal-Mart, Route 11, she allegedly allowed her friends to make purchases in August and September with her 10 percent employee discount, troopers said. According to documents, the loss was valued at $135.09. She is to answer the charge in LeRay Town Court on Sept. 24.

While it is nice living in an area with little 'serious' crime action, we really have to wonder if an employee unlawfully letting friends use her 10% discount is worthy of the police blotter. Sadly, no picture accompanies this report.

Are They Still Alive?

Wow. It has been a super busy past couple of months so we apologize for our lack of updates...is anybody out there??? For those who care, here's what has been going on...

We moved! We're still in the same little town enjoying the clear blue waters of a Great Lake but our new place is bigger, sparklier and oozes with charm. 'Moving Weekend' was an interesting experience but we did it with only one little disagreement that could probably be filed in the 'tiff' category.

Cars, cars, cars. Clay's Jeep that was the source of many headaches during the deployment is now in the care of others. This summer we bought a new cherry red 2007 VW Jetta of which we've really taken a liking. We're currently looking at vehicles for Clay and hopefully will purchase a truck in the new future. For those of you who know Clay's somewhat obsessive personality, he is spending his free time searching on the Internet for "the perfect truck."

May 2008. Clay submitted his exit paperwork to ETS from the Army. His four year active duty commitment ends May 2008 and pending whether he will be stop-lossed or not, we may be moving onto the next stage of our lives next summer...how exciting!

I am keeping busy with work and school while Clay is back to experiencing the nuances of the Army. We promise better blogging and apologize if our lack of writings has caused people to do things they now regret. Our advice is to 'keep it clean' and never trust potato salad at an outside picnic.

A little fun project for our fellow family and friend bloggers...we encourage you to post a 'vintage' picture of the two of you on your blog. Hey, why not? Pictures are fun to look at. Happy posting!

...and for the vintage Karen & Clay picture of the day...

Monster Truck Rally - BiLo Center, Greenville, South Carolina

"where you pay for the whole seat but only sit on the edge"

Upon viewing a television commerical for Tyrannosaurus WReX, Gravedigger and Big Foot, a group of friends at Clemson University decided to dress in their favorite redneck attire (Clay even wore his mullet) and take in the culture associated with Monster Trucks...HELL YEAH!

Okay, so here is the deal...

We're keeping The Huffmaniacs for our family and friends to keep up with our shenanigans but I (Karen) just could not stay away from my own personal writing. Therefore, since I officially retired The Sour Patch Kid Experiment I have created a new blog Coffee and Clouds to comment on life, hopes, dreams and goals. Pop over and say hello :)
