All Things Southern
On Saturday we loaded Lucy into the truck and went to The Cook-Out, a Greensboro, NC based burger & malt drive-thru stand. We ordered cheeseburgers and a shake for ourselves and a plain hamburger for Lucy. We then drove to the North Carolina Museum of Art and ate our delicious meal in the park among outdoor sculptures. After lunch, we ventured over to the Raleigh Flea Market where we sifted through junk in search of treasure. A stop at Home Depot to buy a Crape Myrtle and then a couple hours of yard work rounded out our afternoon. A great southern Saturday.
The Cook-Out
Lucy very much enjoyed her hamburger
Clay enjoying popcorn at the flea market
Yummm....cotton candy
Our Crape Myrtle; who knew we would enjoy yard work so much :)

Bye Bye iPods...
Our first generation iPods (e.g. old) were stolen from our vehicles last night. Our first generation broken iPods...taken to be sold (presumably) to a pawn shop. A string of houses were hit by the dim-witted youth who failed to take the most expensive available items...not that we're complaining. Recently, our extra money has been going towards the house, hence no replacements (yet) for the broken iPods. We're shrugging it off and using the incident as a reminder that no place is a 100% safe from petty theft and to buy new iPods!

Happy 3rd Birthday!
Lucy and her brother, Boone, turned three today. Boone's owners are our good friends Jackie and Aaron who currently live in Maine. Lucy and Boone are incredibly special dogs because of how they helped Jackie and I through hard times. Lucy, we love you so much and could not imagine life without you. You're our good girl :)

ETA: For her birthday present, she was able to eat 1/4 gallon of ice cream straight from the carton. She loved it!

A Princess Party
This weekend while Clay was participating in his first National Guard drill, I drove down to Fort Bragg, NC to join the celebration of Madison's third birthday. The drive was very pretty and weaved me through some stereotypical southern towns. The highlight of my mini-road trip was driving by a bar outside Fayetteville named FUBAR...classy. That same day, Meredith and Harry celebrated their five year wedding anniversary. Sure looks like they will last a long time! Harry has difficultly accepting Meredith's diva demands.

Southern Hip Hop
"This one's for North Carolina! C'mon and raise up
Take your shirt off, twist it 'round yo head
Spin it like a helicopter"
Yes, it is true Petey Pablo mourns the loss of his mainstream popularity along with Chingy and Cam'ron, the extraordinary gifted lyricist gave the nation a taste of North Carolina soul with "Raise Up." We enjoy listening to the local rap stations to hear the dirty South's best and have discovered some hidden gems. Our current favorite is an ode to Maury's paternity-themed episodes. Do yourself a favor and click here to view the "Dat Baby Don't Look Like Me" video featuring Shawty Put and Lil' Jon.

We're Back!
Having served as Matron of Honor and Groomsman #6, we back from the wonderful weekend of Megan and Mike's beautiful wedding. We're tired; very tired. I (Karen) start my brand spanking new job tomorrow so my last night of housewifery is being spent picking out the perfect outfit and packing my briefcase. I am in a pensive mood; updating my iPod playlist for the frightening commute into the depths of Raleigh. I am currently listening to "Two Daughters and a Beautiful Wife," by the Drive-By Truckers, I highly recommend the song.
