No Farewell For Us...

Yesterday evening we attended a Hail and Farewell at The Partridge Berry Inn. According to the Army Officer's Handbook, a best seller and must read (we jest), the hail and farewell is the most common social function. It is a time to welcome new officers and their spouses to the unit and say goodbye to those departing. The girls that I (Karen) shared such a strong bond with over the duration of the deployment were formally 'farewelled' along with their husbands. While I am happy they're moving towards new adventures and new phases of their life (oh dear, I sound so cliche), I will miss Fran, Jackie, and Erin terribly. Below is the only picture from the night that was not engulfed in blackness...I thought it looked like a first year photography student's work...nice.

After the event we decided to venture to the famous 146 Ward St. in Watertown. We have been following this story on the local news with great interest. Neighbors are fed up with the city's reluctance to address the hazardous conditions of a house located on a street lined with cute and well-kept houses. We managed to snap a picture of the famous house...how exciting!
